Hi All!  I had liposuction on September 29, 2003 on my upper and lower abdominal and flank area and waist, a total of 1500 cc's removed which is equivalent to a liter and half of fat...ick!  Here's a brief history on how I came to this decision.  Because I've always had a genetic pre-disposition to store weight in my mid-section, no amount of exercise or dieting would shape this area of my body.  I was tired of it.  At 34, I felt it was time to do this procedure for myself while my skin was still elastic enough to bounce back.
In my late teens, I weighed a mere 100 pounds.  I was bordering on anorexia but still couldn't get rid of the extra fat in my mid-section.   In January of 2003, I weighed around 120 lbs and at 5'5" tall, this is a thin but healthy weight for my build.  Despite this and several million crunches later, I still had a tum-tum...arghhhhhhhhhh!  Over the summer of 2003, I packed on about 10-15 lbs due to medication.  I don't know how much I gained exactly, because I dared not step on or near a scale.  I was mortified at how out of shape I had become.  I eventually got off the medication, but the weight did not come off.  This was even more incentive for me to get liposuction.  I finally placed a call to one of the best plastic surgeons in the San Francisco Bay Area, made an appointment and viola, here I am!  I'm 5 months post-op and really like the results thus far.  I haven't lost any additional weight since the summer so what you see in my post-op pics is from lipo alone.
Weight management is key here.  Although I've never actually been overweight (per the medical charts), I have teeter-tottered within about a 15-20 lb range since early teen-hood.  With lipo has come a responsibility to eat right and exercise; it's given me the motivation to stay consistent.  I've always been pretty active and in good shape but not always consistent, and this is where we often fail in our efforts to maintain a good shape.  I'm running again, eating right and taking care of myself.  This has been a great experience and only wish I had done this sooner.  The best results are yet to come!
